The Best Throwing is Done Mindfully

The best throwing is done mindfully.

It’s certainly not easy. Even when consciously trying to.

So, what constitutes “mindful throwing”?

When your mind isn’t in the past and/or the future. It is present. It is intentionally with the hammer and only the hammer.

When you’re thinking about what you want to fix or what you’re going to do, your mind is not with the hammer.

Instead, consider planning certain sessions where you arrive specifically to throw mindfully. I promise it will change your experience.

There are so many distractions pulling at our attention in society today, you’ll be amazed what happens when you selectively concentrate.

Here’s what I do:

I breathe.

I pick up the hammer.

I walk.

I breathe.

I wind the hammer around my head.

I feel for the connection.

I wait.

I throw as one.

I feel.

I walk to retrieve.

I do it again.

When I throw, my focus is on the throw. EVERY step has my focus. I can feel and understand more about the things I’m trying to “fix”, than when I’m trying to fix them. This is where the benefits lie.

Block out the noise of your mind trying to interpret what it thinks it has experienced and simply experience with your whole attention.

Don’t Act. REact.
