Normal? You Can Keep That

Not Normal. Unorthodox.

Some people get told they don’t throw “normal.” What the hell is normal, anyway?

If normal exists, that implies that there is a group of individuals that someone has bestowed upon them the crushing responsibility of being what is considered normal. And therefore the standard for the rest of us to be compared to.

Yeaaah, I don’t get down like that.

I am not you. You are not me. We are all who we are. Physiologically. Psychologically. Genetically, etc. So why would we aim to throw like each other?

Why was 6’2”, 196lb High School Kibbie trying to throw like 6’6” Lars Reidel? He didn’t know any better. (And that’s perfectly ok).

*The fastest way to guarantee NOT establishing a connection with the implement is to throw like someone else.*

(Understand, I am not saying don’t use models, ideas, guides, etc.)

Unorthodox is a word for the one that has stopped thinking for themselves and has instead allowed someone else’s words to pour out of them as if it was their own.

Throwing is about efficiency. Efficiency has no look. Either your movement is efficient, or it isn’t.

All of this is to say yes, you “coach” body positions. But the focus is the implement. Improve your efficiency by observing your throw and making necessary adjustments with your IMPLEMENT in mind. Not your body. This difference in perspective is everything.

PS, it may or may not go without saying, but not a single breath on this Earth has been spent with any damn given for whatever normal is.

You can keep that 🤷🏾‍♂️
